Nature's Engineers

Honeycombs are nature's most perfect construction.  People have been debating why they build hexagons for a very long time.  More than 2,000 years ago, in 36 B.C., a Roman soldier/scholar/writer, Marcus Terentius Varro, proposed an answer, which ever since has been called "The Honeybee Conjecture."   A fascinating read.  I love the smell of beeswax candles and I use beeswax wraps to cover bowls.  Clever wee creatures and natures premiere engineers.  Gift#206: marveling at nature's wonders.
