Here’s the second clearwing hummingbird moth common to Maine. It isn’t as colorful as the Flying Lobster (yesterday’s blip) as it’s more reminiscent of a bumblebee, but both are equally fascinating. They visited the butterfly bushes today, as did a hummingbird, but I missed my shot. What makes these moths unique is they’re active during the day, unlike their counterparts who prefer nighttime • Dark clouds are gathering overhead as a thunderstorm is expected in 15-20 minutes.
