A hailstone in Friuli last night measured 20cm in length, Palermo was 47c and airport encircled by scrub fires. 38c in Sardinia.

Here after a torrid night at 31c the temp eventually fell to 20. Today the scrap end of storms - mercifully hail free - and a chance to work in the afternoon and early evening.

Forecast is for 29/30c for next week in Tuscany. Pity the poor souls further south and in Tunisia.
