Rock Lobster!

I sent a photo of a lobster cage I found in the park (fact: furthest point from the sea in any direction) to the local Wildlife police unit a couple of days ago.  Illegal trapping of crayfish is big business, they sell them to Chinese restaurants*, it seems and they are keen to stamp it out.

This morning PC Buckingham, Rural, Wildlife & Heritage Crime Officer called to ask if I'd show him around so off we scuttled.  We showed him the entry points where you often see ropes, where cages are often abandoned etc.   He was cockahoop to find some for himself, he shared his card and we went our separate ways.  About 20 minutes later he sent a text to say he'd carried on snuffling about the river bank and had discovered a net with 200 crayfish in.

* If, you're anywhere in the Midlands, don't order the prawn toast.
