Roadside Sunflowers

This is a stretch of local highway going from Wilmington to Leland just over the Cape Fear River. I think the Dept. of Transportation plants them. They are just such a bright spot as you drive along. Many people stop to photograph them - today I did the same. I especially love to see the little Mexican girls in their quinceanera dresses (a celebration of their 15th birthdays) posing for family photos. In Extra, a close up of the Crepe Myrtle blooms that look great in their first year, we planted this tree about 2 months ago and I think/hope it likes its spot.
