Surreal

Every summer there is a tour of all the downed American aircraft around here, and this year we went along. We only went to one of them, and that was quite enough as it was rather long-winded!
All the local mayors and standard bearers were there, as well as this lot on the left; two New York policemen, a Californian Highway patrol officer, and a WW2 US soldier! Yes they were a re-enactment group of Frenchmen who also take part in films etc. 
We weren’t certain that it wasn’t a bit disrespectful, but anyway the CHiPs officer was far too slim and weedy to be the real thing!
I’ve blipped this memorial before, back in the first week of blipping for me, but since then the pilots tooth has been dug up, sent to the US for dna testing, and when it’s identity was confirmed, his body was dug up, after almost 80 years, and the tooth put in with the rest of him.
As I said, it’s been surreal, and then we went to the salle de fête for punch and canapés!
