Feeding the chick

A Little Grebe, (or Dab Chick as they are sometimes called) with its Grebe-ling.  As you can see the little humbug isn't quite as attractive as the Great Crested Grebe-lings see:(https://www.blipfoto.com/entry/3117875955318653937).  But the chick does share that mint humbug feather colouration around its head and neck which makes it pretty cute. 

Mum had been diving for food and then passing it to her chick who had been waiting on the surface for Mum to reappear.  As soon as she did the chick would race over to her to take whatever little fish/insect/mollusc was on offer.
