Spain 2023, Day 4, Pico Monfrecho

Our first "proper" walk of the holiday and we got it off with a bang with a walk up Pico Monfrecho. After tucking the car as far in as possible to the hedge we headed up the well signed track. It was only about 500m of ascent but in almost 30 degree heat it was quite tough towards the final ascent where annoyingly a signpost had blown round and taken us in the wrong direction for a few hundred metres. It was absolutely worth it though as the 360 degree views were amazing, with the high Picos in one direction and Ribadesella and the sea in the other (extra). There also seems to be a tradition (well only on the peaks I have seen) of having some sort of sculpture or whatever to mark the peak
