Wexford

We had to take the car in to be serviced today.  The Kia garage, on the edge of the town, offers a courtesy lift in to the town centre.  And fortunately, given the recent unsettled and rainy weather, we were blessed with a dry, and intermittently sunny, day.

We walked a short distance from the drop off point, and had a lovely lunch, sitting outside at Green Acres restaurant.  From there, we could see the ruins of Selskar Abbey at the top of the street, so after lunch we wandered up there to take a look.  The Abbey ruins were firmly locked away (there are daily guided tours at 11.00, at the cost of €5).  But I was impressed with this mural.  Quite new, it is apparently based on a poem by T. S. Elliot about the murder of Archbishop Thomas Beckett - reputedly Henry II came to Selskar Abbey as penance.  

After taking pictures of this and various views of the Abbey through the locked gates, we walked a little further up the high street.  But we didn't walk far.  My back pain has now very definitely settled into my gluts.  The physio yesterday found some very tight knots in the muscles, and did some deep massage, but the benefits are as yet minimal, and walking is very painful.  I made the mistake of omitting to take paracetamol with my lunch.

We did find a little junk shop, they had a lovely Victorian plant stand - very tempted, may have to return when parked a little closer!  We also noticed a couple of second hand furniture shops in Castlebridge as we drove through on the way to the service centre - definitely returning there soon!
