Before the bypass was opened in recent years this road was the picturesque route going via the seaside village community of Mapua. It is a popular destination, especially with tourists through the summer holiday season.



Auckland CBD Shooting
Instead of a day of celebration it became a day of tragedy - three people, including the gunman, died and ten were injured.

‘Sports drama’ and the excitement of the opening of FIFA Women’s World Cup took a backseat this morning when NZ woke to a ‘shooting drama’ in Auckland.

The gunman, a twenty four year old, was recently sentenced on domestic violence charges 
Prime Minster Chris Hipkins says the shooter had no identified ideological or political motivation, and that there is no national security threat.

NZ has just won its first FIFA match, against Norway. 1-0
