Smooch

I’m pleased I snapped Smooch early this morning as the day has got away on me.  He is such a cruiser, when he gets a bit hot or want to stretch this is what he does.
We woke to rain this morning and as predicted much cooler temperatures.  Fire was lit early, makes it so cosy when there isn’t any heat coming from the sun.
Book Club this afternoon, we had a cosy nook in one of the restaurants which worked out ok, not quite as good being in someone’s home though.  From there it was to the supermarket.  Really, if I didn’t know better I would have thought we were still in a pandemic, so many shelves partly empty, and crazy busy.  What’s that all about.
Many of you would have seen/heard the news reports of a mass shooting that unfolded in Auckland early this morning.  This guy (on home detention wearing an ankle bracelet) went into a high rise construction building (an employee) in downtown Auckland and randomly went on a shooting spree, killing two and injuring ten or more, two being from the armed defenders squad (one in a critical condition). The gunman was shot dead too.  What’s going on? Terrible? Those poor people went to work and didn’t return, and so many others were trapped and sheltering behind whatever was available.  They will be terrified and traumatised.
All this on the eve of the opening of the Women’s FIFA World Cup game in Auckland which we will watch this evening.  NZ against Norway.
