Arundel Castle.

We have visited this area several times, but it is the first time we have visited Arundel Castle.  The castle building itself is very large and in fine condition, largely because the medieaval building has been greatly restored over the years, with extensive Victorian modifications.  Well worth visiting, but for us the highlight was the gardens.  They are really delightful, with tall flowers and hedges providing many separate, hidden areas.  There has been a lot of careful design, but the gardens look entirely natural and not overly formal.  At this time of year there is a variety of flowering bushes and lots of colour.  Apparently in the Spring the place is carpeted in tulips.

A good day, rain free apart from a few spots in the late afternoon, and a comfortable temperature.
