Nice Insect, Bad Flower

Today I learned that this is Himalayan Balsam, an invasive species, which apparently cannot be imported, cultivated, transported, commercialised, planted or intentionally released into the environment in the whole of the European Union.

It spreads aggressively and is so attractive to pollinators it out competes native species.

I see a lot of it along rivers and lochs.
