Rievaux Abbey

We went to Rievaux Abbey this morning and had a good wander. I found it a very calming place and in such pretty surroundings.

From here to Helmsley. A very chi-chi town. We had a lovely salad lunch in one of the numerous cafes there and got chatting to two very funny ladies on the next table.  We also visited Helmsley Castle and then back to Thirsk - the White Rose bookshop (at Madwill’s recommendation) didn’t disappoint.
