The Queen Victoria Monument

It has led a bit of a charmed life. It was attacked and badly damaged in 1981 but was restored later on by Dun Laoghaire Harbour Company. The tour that Rob Goodbody was giving was not about the fountain but about what is called The Metals. When Dun Laoghaire Harbour was being built much of the necessary granite was sourced from Dalkey which is about 3km from Dun Laoghaire. To transport it from there they used a route with metal track and carriages.
