Dear old mum

Alan has brought mum down to stay for a few days. The last visit was curtailed by Covid.

She's 80 and has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's, and her memory is beginning to deteriorate quite rapidly. There's a marked difference between this visit and the last time I saw her.

However, she's a happy forgetful person as opposed to a grumpy forgetful person (like me).

She adores all the animals, although she keeps getting the names mixed up.

She needs a lot of looking after, and I have to confess I avoid all the hard work as it's Alan and my sister who take care of her in Edinburgh.

It's a difficult situation which I know many of us face.
