Christmas has come early

I received a package from the States today containing several absolutely stunning images - the top one is a giclee of F4 Phantoms - "Into the Storm" by John Shaw.

With the USS Constellation in the background, two F-4 Phantoms head off to hunt MiGs during their most active period in late 1967.

It is number 1 of 50! The artist, John Shaw, is based in Florida and his work is outstanding! I had hassled him for years to do a giclee of the print on which this is based, and he got in touch and said I could have the first one! It's superb!

The lower one is another picture that I had suggested years ago. Most of John's work is based around US aircraft, and I had been hassling him for an image of a Spitfire. Well, here it is! "Allies in Arms - through troubled skies".

He's managed to combine a squadron of American B17 Flying Fortresses which carried out most of the daytime bombing raids over Germany, with one of the most legendary Spitfires - a Mark IX flown by the British Ace Johnnie Johnson.

What an epic image - and in the bottom right corner, there is a beautifully crafted remarque! Even the lady in the art shop drew breath when she saw that - "ooh, that's exquisite" were her words.

I can't wait to get them back after being framed!
