River Gascogne

This is the little river which runs through Milborne Port ! It gets overgrown in Sumner but it’s a beautiful haven for wildlife .

This was taken as we walked to the village history meeting about ‘ Pinfold Lane ‘ - the ancient road which runs along Sherborne Castle land directly to our village . It was a fascinating talk as the lecturer had researched its history going back centuries but with a view to a current request legally for it to be made a bridleway. 

Sadly, the landed gentry of Sherborne Castle have blocked this idea despite its historic use as they are ‘against’ people being near their land . The A30 between Sherborne and Milborne Port goes through a very dangerous cutting called Crackmore Rocks - there is no safe direct route to Milborne except along Pinfold Lane . The village is fighting…. 

We went to the cinema in Dorchester for the first time in ages to see the latest Wes Anderson film ‘ Asteroid City’ - it was very ‘Wes Anderson ‘ . P loved it - I liked the set and it was very clever but it’s not the sort of film which grabs me !
