Trixie's Summer Adventures

As most of our regular followers will know; my human likes to have little projects for us to work on. Now that we are back in Edinburgh until September, Ann has devised a new project for us which she is calling, 'Trixie's Summer Adventures'.

Because Ann is old but she doesn't feel old she has an OAP bus pass which allows her to travel all over Scotland for free, so this summer we are going to make the most of it and go off on little adventures together. We've already had projects where we've travelled on all of the Lothian Region buses so this summer we are going to go further afield.

In theory we could go all the way up to 'John O'Groats' with Ann's free bus pass. In reality that wouldn't be very much fun for me would it? She's devised some rules for our project.......................

Firstly, we are not going to go anywhere that involves us being on a bus for more than about 2 hours at a time, because our summer adventures are only going to be 'day trips' so we don't really want to spend more than 4 hours a day on a bus.

Secondly, she is going to choose places where there will be a nice walk for me and a nice (doggie friendly) place for lunch for her.

Thirdly, we may let some of Ann's friends come with us, on the understanding that they will also take part in the dog walk. This isn't going to be a little jolly where Ann goes out for lunch with her friends and sits drinking wine all afternoon. As the title suggests, it's 'Trixie's Summer Adventures' so we have to do things that we will both enjoy.

…..............And that's the only rules we have.................... Hopefully we will get as far north as St Andrews/Perth/Dundee and as far south as the Borders towns, as far east as Duns and as far west as Glasgow, but who knows?

Anyway, today we started off our adventures by going on the tram to Newhaven. The new part of the Edinburgh tramline only opened a few weeks ago so we thought we'd better try it out. We moched around Newhaven & Western Harbour for an hour and I got to have some run about time before we jumped back on the tram and came home.

Oh and if anyone is interested..................... Ann is just about to sign up for her own little project (when I will have to stay home alone).................. Edinburgh Leisure are doing a six week summer pass for £69. That's a really good deal because it gives access to all gyms, fitness classes and swimming pools in the city (and I think there's 17) so even if Ann only swims twice a week for the next 6 weeks it will be worthwhile because let's face it, she's not going to be doing any sea swimming here.

…...........And that's been our first day back in Edinburgh and we've both really enjoyed it. …..........And we're both a bit tired now!!!
