Oban

We started today by visiting Stirling Castle which I really enjoyed. As far as fortified castle's go I don't think you'd find too many better locations. I loved the history of the place, which has been the most significant castle during most of Scotland's history. It also affords a great view of the old battlefield where Robert the Bruce came up trumps vs England on my birthday in 1314 (the battle of Bannockburn). The extra photo is of Henry on the steps outside the room where James I (VI of Scotland) was educated. After this we drove to Oban and caught up with friends Bill and Frances who found an excellent place to grab a drink and a feed. This was really nice, and Bill was able to guide me into the consumption of an Orcadian beer. Unfortunately, I'd planned a photo of this gathering as my blip but got engrossed in conversation and forgot. After dinner, I had to deny Hugh his repeated requests to go and play cue sports in the local pub, and instead we sat on the sidelines while Elizabeth went busking outside our front door. She was out there for an hour and twenty minutes and made 57 pounds. She was amazing by this haul, and I think Hugh might be starting to gain a greater appreciation of music now as well.
