IT'S MOTORHEAD SUNDAY

It's WeatherTech International Challenge weekend at Road America.....tons of vintage race cars and a Concours d'Elegance for both race cars (Friday after the track goes cold) and street cars (Saturday).  Elkhart Lake is a small village in Wisconsin with a human population of 900 and change.  The race cars leave the track at the end of the races, drive about 2-3 miles into town and park on the village streets.  The highway is clogged with viewers and citizens from everywhere line the village streets, drinks in hand and eyes wide open.  Best estimates had the crowd at 35-40,000.  They get to eyeball the cars and talk to the drivers and lots of little kids get invited to sit in the driver's seat.  It really is a spectacle and enjoyed by all.....except maybe me this time...as my back was killing me after spending 14 hours a day on my feet for the last 5 days. It was good to get home and dive into a bottle of beer.

TODAY.....all the street cars, based on votes from the attending public, were assembled near Victory Lane and another judging took place for trophies and bragging rights: People' Choice; Best Race Car; Best Sports Car and Best in Show.

Today's submission did not win any of the awards as testament to the quality of the entrants and this car is a real beauty IMHO.   1950 Jaguar XK120 Drophead Coupe.  Check out the extra photos for details.
