Pine marten

I was sitting outside at the table shown sipping a v cold glass of red wine and ice after five gruelling hours of tennis. I happened to catch a movement from the corner of my eye and next thing a pine marten was bouncing purposefully by me a couple of metres away. She/he detoured away into thick vegetation . Have found the summer calling card scats by the house but what a treat to see the real thing.

The weather station registered 38.2 at 18.51. Hotter than I expected and short of last year’s 40c maximum. Luckily relative humidity is at38% outside although much higher inside at 64%. Heatwave forecast to peak Monday to Wednesday.
