Goose herding

The wetlands have dried up and the waders and gulls have stopped raising broods there for now, so Joe Martin has let his cattle graze on the little wet area remaining. Light grazing helps the diversity apparently, cow poo encouraging insect life for one thing.
The cattle have been sharing this spot with a flock of pink footed geese. This calf (there's always one) wanted to prove itself by charging at the geese to spook them. What was amazing was that the rest of the herd turned and started mooing at the calf until it retreated back amongst them. Good to see the children being brought up properly!
