Small Again

I was out walking this afternoon while Mrs madwill watched the tennis final on TV.

This little beauty landed on the ground right in front of me and I almost stepped on it….fortunately it stayed put long enough for me to grab some shots…including a (failed) attempt at a focus stack!!

I was pleased that it paused with its wings open. It looked really bright in the sunshine.

I believe it is a Small Tortoiseshell.
