Monnickendam anno 1573

The Battle of the Zuiderzee on October 11, 1573 was an encounter between the Sea Beggars and a Spanish-Flemish fleet, which was won by the Sea Beggars. The battle took place near Monnickendam. Many residents this week are dressed as if they lived 450 years ago.
