A Glassware Spectacle, Aylesford
I spent four days back in my old studio this week and I must say I rather liked it as I was very busy so the days seemed to go much quicker compared to when I'm stuck in the other horrible little studio. Unfortunately, I'm being returned there next week. Oh well, it was good while it lasted!
I must admit by Friday afternoon I was knackered and just wanted to get home but was cheered up when I was told I had sold one of my photographs in the staff exhibition - the one "angel's wings" I took a few weeks ago. The journey home, however, was far from straightforward.
First of all when leaving work I took a step outside only to find it was absolutely pissing it down and my rather ineffectual umbrella was not going to protect me very much from the downpour. So I walked to the nearest tube station (Green Park) and caught a train so arrived at Victoria relatively dry and stress free. My train to Bromley South was on time and half empty so I began to relax and was lulled into a false sense of security. When I got to the lovely Platform 4 (see previous blip) I was greeted by the dreaded word DELAYED in relation to my connecting train.
At this point I lost my sense of humour and I swore (mostly silently) a lot and then I remembered my default route in case of a situation like this. This meant a change of platform, a train to Otford, off there and then another connecting train to my destination. In the end I was forty minutes late but only later learnt I had been very lucky. About five minutes after my train left Victoria there was a major points and signal failure just outside the station and no trains could depart or arrive for several hours while they tried to sort out the faults.
After getting off the train and my brother picking me up we headed to the pub for the obligatory end of week pint. It was still pouring it down but it didn't matter a jot - I was home and could finally relax.
Today was a rest day as I was very tired from the busy week. I took this image in the corner of my kitchen where the late afternoon light creates wonderful shadows and highlights. The best patch of light is right on top of the freezer so that's where I took the shot!
