Exped day2

Wet overnight and a mizzly start but the group in surprisingly good spirits. We were however yet again the last to leave, not that that really mattered, as they'd soon overtaken several other groups on the first hill climb.
We also took a lovely lad under our wing. He has quite severe mobility issues but really really wanted to take part in the expedition with his friends. One of the main things this award is about is the trying, the taking part and helping others - and despite his issues A., who had been transported to camp after walking the first few miles but having to stop with bleeding feet, (and sadly some tension with his original group) offered to help everyone with their tent, made them a brew and was generally lovely.

So today we got A. to each checkpoint to interact with my group. Then they carried his kit between them, helped physically support him and he managed to walk the last mile into the finish.
Needless to say I shook his hand and told him he & the rest of the team had all passed. His fortitude and determination combined with my group's compassion and consideration for others demonstrated everything we hope the award can instill and inspire in young people.
