Great morning!

Nothing goes to waste in Guernsey, we even sell ‘Spiders’! I thought you’d enjoy this, for ‘Silly Saturday’ (They were selling Spider Crabs!)
We were up and about early as it’s hubby’s birthday and we were going out for breakfast , but it was the biggest breakfast and neither of us could eat it all, so we took some out in a goody box, even then I still couldn’t manage the rest for lunch, birthday boy managed the bottom later of mine too, with a hash brown and deep layer of grated cheese, in the top was tomato , bacon and egg, I just managed that part. See picture of it in extras!
But before lunch we went for a very exciting walk to the Fairy Ring, on our way we saw 6 seals, and lots of beautiful views, it’s the longest walk that I would have managed in 10 years, due to a foot problem, then knees etc but sadly it started to drizzle and hubby said, let’s dash back, so we did, but I hadn’t done the whole walk :0(. But, on the way we saw the tunnels, see a bit of info here.

Post-war hermit Steve Picquet made his home in one of the German bunkers at Pleinmont. He shared it with his dog and 30 goats. He passed away on 21st August 1963 aged 74. Mr Picquet’s self-imposed solitary lifestyle made him something of a celebrity. He appeared on the Alan Whicker television program and three pages of G.B. Edward’s Book of Ebenezer Le Page are dedicated to him. He named his bunker home ‘Onmeown’.

Plenty more of Birthday Boys day to look forward to yet!
