Hoverfly
A lazy blip today - taken from a garden chair sitting next to my pond whilst eating lunch. This hoverfly is commonly known as a sunfly, as it likes to bask in the sunshine - which is exactly what it is doing here. There were a pair of them buzzing round and every time one of them landed on a leaf, the nearest pondskater went for them - which was a bit optimistic, as the hoverfly is about five times the size of the pondskater!
We had our first barbeque of the year today - just a family one. Black pepper sausages and lamb and mint burgers from the butcher, with strips of free range chicken breast and a pint of Doombar beer, all in bright evening sunshine. That was followed by an improved performance from England, playing well in the second half, leading against Brazil but ending with a draw. Almost, but not quite, a perfect day!
