A Sad Farewell to the Lady Cardinal

In the morning, I found our female cardinal on the road, where she had apparently been hit by a car.

This is no strange bird, but a beloved bird from our own yard, whom I have photographed, and who has sung for us every single day.

We held services on the deck and interred her in Gremlin's Meadow. Critters from far and near attended.

Tiny Tiger said a few words. The Little Moose just sat and cried.

And all day long, the male cardinal called and called and called, but there was no answer back. I could not bear to listen to his grief.

We will miss her in our yard, and we hope her lovely song continues into the Next Place.

Go well, my beauty.

The soundtrack song is this one: Jadyn Rylee and Sina, with The Sound of Silence.
