Today's the day ...................... to get the show on the road

This is the rhythm section of the Kirkcudbright Pipe Band, which opened the programme of Summer Festivities that will feature in the town over the coming weeks.

There's really nothing quite like the skirl of the bagpipes and the beat of the drum to gather the crowds on a lovely summer evening down at the harbour.  There was plenty of Scottish highland dancing, from the tiniest of tots to the older children - all of it to a very high standard.  And some singing too.

An excellent show for all the family - and a taste of what's to come throughout the summer .........................
