Afternoon tea at the Balmoral Hotel

For my birthday in March, Bruce and Elly kindly gave me a vulture* for afternoon tea for two at the Balmoral Hotel. As can be seen in my blip, today we were delighted to cash it in.

It was great to relax in the peaceful surroundings of the Palm Court after a rather fraught start to the day. We decided to investigate a wet patch on the new carpet in the corridor of our guest suite. We eventually discovered that we have a leak from below the plug of our bath. Mr hazelh tried everything he could to fix it - including the installation of a sealing ring that he popped out to buy at B&Q - but to no avail. In the end we have arranged a plumber to come on Monday. Until then, no baths for us :-( Instead we will take showers in the guest bathroom.

My own stress was not so great - just another day of rushing out of the house to pull the washing off the line whenever it started to rain. By 3:30pm the three loads of washing were all dealt with - phew. I also made two solo trips to the shops to complete our Thursday grocery shopping run, and published a blog post about Rachel's PhD success.

This evening we will return to the sofa for another couple of episodes of The Traitors (Australia).

*'Clarification of 'gift vulture': family term derived from my then five-ish year-old sister-in-law's misunderstanding when copying out text written by me for her to complete birthday thank you letters.

Exercise today: walking (15,862 steps).
