Am I just unlucky………

or don’t they make rakes like they used to?  All those handles used to be the same length as my trusty 40yo steel model (pictured).  I busted another one today!!
There are 2 comments I don’t want to hear 1. Why don’t you get a leaf blower? Because they are noisy, antisocial machines from hell.  2. Why don’t you just buy a new handle? Because they’re difficult to get out, cost nearly as much as a new rake and they last about 10 minutes.
I’m tempted to follow the advice of my old friend, the late Dr Fred. He saw me raking once and asked “Why do you think they call them leaves, John?”
