Marmalade Hoverfly ( Episyrphus balteatus )

The first week for quite a few we made one of our regular garden centre visits.  First a visit to the cash and carry to stock up to see us through the rest of the season.

There was as you would expect lots of colour and variety of flowers.  We wandered round taking shots, after the obligatory coffee to build up our strength.  Most of the flowers were attracting Hoverflies, which was pleasing as many commercially bred flowers are not good as food for pollinators.

As a change from flower shots, I took a number of Hoverfly shots.  This one was best but it's a pity the flower was showing its age with black marks etc.
