Jerry and John are back here after a wonderful week sailing the Caledonian Canal. Jerry has never been so far north before, and it is 40 years since John last saw the Highlands, so neither was really prepared for the full experience of the beauty of Scotland when they set off from here last week. We're particularly pleased that Jerry is so enamoured because this means that he will be back (from the Republic of Ireland) soon. This is less likely in John's case because he is from Queensland, Australia.

This morning I prepared for the arrival of our guests, making up the bedrooms and preparing supper. Then I went for a run.

Jerry and John arrived just after lunch. I served them tea and cake, then (unpredictably) they said that they would accompany me on my errands to the co-op, library, two charity shops, Valvona and Crolla, and John Lewis. It was a very successful trip. We returned home with asparagus, a book, a stool for the newly refurbished bathroom (carried by Jerry), sponge biscuits to eat with tonight's pudding, a white king size bed sheet, and a blip.

It's a lovely evening and it sounds like we may go for a walk after supper.

Exercise today: 7k run; walking (18,864 steps including run).
