Just before the rain started..

Planned a more gentle walk along the two rivers, the Bradford & the Lathkill, & hoped to get back before the forecast rain. Both rivers have had low walls/weirs put in place in the past to form fishing "ponds" and both are good for wildlife. The Blip shows the weir by the packhorse bridge over the Lathkill - we've walked along the river several times in the past but never actually deviated to that spot which is hidden from the mapped public footpath. A lovely calm spot, with different shades of green plus the huge raft of water crowfoot and also meadowsweet and hemp agrimony.

That was actually our turning point for the walk - I'd have loved to go further up into Lathkill Dale but the weather, & an old injury which has been troubling P again over the last few days, made it a sensible place to turn. We had gentle rain all the way back - & a much more intensive storm just after we got back to the van.
