Teenage chicks

When your teenager gets bigger than you are...

At the end of a lovely day with Luca, I spotted this plump creature on the other side of the garden, through the kitchen window.  After a while, I realised that  the male blackbird hunting for worms in the grass nearby was probably its parent.  I caught two quick shots of a moment's feeding - but, taken through the window, they're not quite sharp.

So today's portrait is the voracious chick.  After one quick feed, I saw that the parent continued foraging but didn't offer another feed. The chick looked on rather plaintively (blatant anthropomorphism, I know). I think a message was being communicated: time to get your own dinner...
