The Euro
Back from my trip to Paris with a few leftover Euros (see past three days for Paris shots.... gentlemen move directly to Saturday).
Now I really like money. This isn't an admission to gross avarice, but one of the great experiences of going abroad is discovering new currencies. You just have part of that nation in your pocket. The Euro however has kind of taken a lot of the fun out of it. I'll leave the fiscal arguments for and against to those that actually know what they are talking about, but I really do miss pitching up in some European country and having their cash in my pocket. I loved the franc, mark, escudo, pesata, guilder, kroner, kroon, punt..... I've also muddled my way through bolivianos, birr, Tanzanian shillings, ruppees, nuevo sols, dirhams, sheckels, various dollars and pounds. The one currency that I have never really liked was the US dollar. C'mon guys they are all the same shape and colour, try and give us foreigners a chance.
So my only argument against the Euro is how it homogenises an incredibly diverse and relativley small area and takes a wee bit of excitement out of my trips.
On a photo note the macro function of the Ricoh GR Digital II continues to astound me.Great wee camera.
