The Nurse

This evening I was browsing  my mother's extensive book collection, (which we will soon have to sort out) when my eye was caught by  " The Nurse" , one of the titles in the Ladybird People  at Work series from the early 1960s, which belonged to my sister Christine according to the juvenile signature on the front page.
How nursing has changed over the past 60years! During our visits to Northwick Park hospital over the past week, we haven't seen any one remotely resembling this nurse. For a start, the workforce is so ethnically diverse, I would guess there must be  representatives from every  nation in the world working there. My extra is of another page in  the book which describes a rather halcyon  way of life for a hospital nurse.
However, today, we met a lovely nurse called Grace, who was caring for our aunty F. This morning F had had her chest cavity catheter installed, which was  a great relief all round.
Grace explained that  F should be able to return home at the end of this week once a few more checks and scans are completed.
So it was timely that today we managed to get a keysafe fitted outside her apartment and  left a few mobility aids in the flat.
