A moving tribute..
to 6 trainee Air Force men who died on a stormy day when their bomber aircraft crashed into the hillside near Broadway Tower 70 years ago.
Today we took a trip over to see the Tower and were surprised as we got out of the car to hear a Bugle playing The Last Post..as we walked over towards the tower there was a group of people, some of whom looked like veterans and some wore uniform and some there were regimental flags flying. It became apparent that they were holding a 'silence' which was followed by a short prayer and then a flypast .. and at one point this heart was carved into the air by a small bi-wing acrobatic aircraft. It was a spectacular display lasting only a few minutes but very special that we arrived in time to see it.
Afterwards we had a wonderful walk looking down into the Vale of Evesham and across as far as the Malvern Hills and the Welsh Mountains. It was a beautiful day and the views astonishing..I have to say I was thinking about all the asparagus that was growing below us !!!
I had a few photos of the day but this (although it is not entirely clear because of the cloud) felt like it was the only one I would be unlikely ever to catch again..
Also it might qualify for Heartfreeks daily Heart challenge!!! hehe!
