The sound of the turtle dove

Simple weather today. Dry this morning and wet this afternoon.

Did some gardening this morning and had a physio appointment this afternoon. No Blips immediately suggested themselves, so it's an Emergency Blip this time.

I'm reading an astonishing book at the moment - 'Wilding', by Isabella Tree, aka Lady Burrell. It's the story of the 3,500 Knepp Estate in Sussex,
struggling for many years apparently with the heavy clay soil and losing money in a big way. The owners made the decision to return the estate to nature, but in a completely different way

This book discusses the way that farm land has come to be treated over the centuries and the ideas they put forward to to try to reverse the damage. They had to make many compromises and if you read the book, which I thoroughly recommend, you must read with an open mind and put aside any standard views on conservation and 'going back to nature' that you may have!

My daughter has arranged to visit the estate in August and I'm hoping to join her and see the results. When you read about the wildlife which has returned in absolutely staggering numbers you'll be as amazed as I am!
