Chairs in Church...
Today was my official photographer at Wilton's "The Big Lunch", quote 'supporting charity foodbanks, was started in 2009 at the Eden Project in Cornwall and has since spread to millions of people around the country'.
An afternoon of picnics, rock choirs, cheerleaders and other musical entertainments, it was typical cheesy poses of the mayor and carefully lined up shots of juxtapositions of picnickers and musicians and such. All quite local and ordinary, really.
I did edit a couple of nice mono close-ups of the rock choir but at the end of the day, they were just people singing, as nice as that is to look at, but hardly pushing any creative boundaries.
At the actual end of the day, whilst waiting for the bus home, I nipped into this now disused church (Old St Mary's, Wilton), now part of the Church Conservation Trust collection of protected consecrated buildings. Not only was it welcoming in its coolness from the many hours of bright sun I had endured but the 4 o'clock sun was just peeping into and onto these old chairs, hitting the plastered wall and creating shadows. These shadows were diluted and softened by the white interior but I have spent a little effort to get maximum effect and impact in editing.
Have a closer look in LARGE
Lens is Sigma 17-70mm f2.8-4, the lens I used almost exclusively all day at the event.
