Our final morning in Savannah and after a wander further along the river front we walked up into the historic area again enjoying the parks and trees. We decided we should visit at least one historic house so came to a small one which had been the home of a master builder called the Davenport House. He used it not only as his family home but also as a model home to promote his business. The important fact though was that it was saving this house from from demolition which led to the start of the Savannah Historic Foundation , now responsible for saving over 400 houses. I guess without them there wouldn’t be a historic centre.
Our journey back took us through some pretty unpleasant rain storms again but we made it safely :)
