Don’t blink or you’ll miss it

I have been meaning to blip this for ages.

It took well over a year for Argyll & Bute Council to mend a small bit of the A886 at what is called the Leanach , between Glendaruel and Strachur . There was a slippage early in 2022 which resulted the need for a short stretch of single carriageway controlled by lights and i blipped that at one stage.

The repair was finally tackled earlier this year and once done it was nicely finished off by the contractors with the requisite white lines.

So far so good.

However much of the rest of the road has no such markings and hasn’t had for a long time.

In fact the Council is notoriously slow at re-instating those markings wherever patching or resurfacing takes place .

Not having them can be dangerous but although this issue has been raised often , nothing has changed resulting in ludicrous little islands of correct practice put in place by external contractors whilst all around there is just blank tarmac or the faded remnants of past and better times .
