Hairy Coos on the Hill project

Took a walk up our local hill at Croy today to find that the Forestry Commission has populated it with multicoloured hairy cows!! This one was grey, but there were black, tan, and golden coloured specimens too. All seemed to be young cattle.

The sign on the gate says:

"Hairy Coos on the Hill"

Cattle have grazed this hillside for many years. They did a valuable job, and created a varied habitat for other creatures.

That's why we're bringing them back here in April 2013 helping us look after this special place.

This does not stop you using the paths or the open hill for your enjoyment.

Please leave the cattle be and they'll do the same with you. Cattle can sometimes take a dislike to dogs, so please keep them under control.
