Flower!

The last time this 'bird of paradise' plant was seen flowering was when it arrived from the garden centre - exactly a decade ago.  It was a present from 'A' from when we were back in Cambridge.

The flower stems have been tantalising us with the promise of actual flowers for some weeks.  Hopefully this isn't a once-every-ten-years thing!

This is just a quick snap with the phone with the light going.  Hopefully it'll be around for a bit yet so I can get a decent shot some other time.  At least now we know what sequence of conditions it seems to like.

Meanwhile, my blood donation bruise is almost as colourful, but smaller and somewhat less photogenic.
