Derby and Joan
I read an article on blip recently by a learned photographer on taking photos of photographers. (Sorry I can't recall his name)
I hope this SOOC shot complies with his advice.
Although I had better close-ups of The Queen, I like this shot because she is instantly recognisable, even in the distance and it poses questions.
What is in the bags the first footman is carrying?
Does the Queen use those vintage binoculars?
Do they always take 2 umbrellas - even when rain is not forecast?
Why does the 2nd footman only carry a pashmina and the 3rd carry nothing?
I had an absolutely amazing day at the Derby yesterday in the 'posh' part of the course, standing in the parade ring with jockeys and trainers, rubbing shoulders with fascinating people. Big hat, posh frock - the lot!
Straight home, change into 'fancy dress' and off to a charity ball. (But more of that later. Back home at 1.30 am. Hence the slow start today and back blip.
The sun is shining & the grass needs cutting. Laters Y'all.
Footnote: The saying 'Darby and Joan' cannot be traced to any specific couple, but it refers to an old couple comfortable in each other's company.
It seemed to suit Epsom and The Queen.
