(Nearly) Midnight Sun, Galtispuoda
We made our way from Piteå to Arjeplog, which lies just south of the Arctic Circle today. However, there is still midnight sun visible for 7 days either side of the solstice. We decided to go up Galtispuoda, a hill north of town where the views are good too. The weather looked promising and we got to the top of the hill not long after 22:00 and enjoyed great views. There were showers to the north and west and with the low light they made for great colours. About 23:45 a group of 5 Swedes arrived as well and then another couple of Dutch guys. It was all very jolly except for the mosquitos which caused us grief even with insect repellent. The blip is a view of Hornavon, a really long loch that runs NW towards the Norwegian border. The extras are firstly the one I didn’t post for yesterday of scenes in Skelefteå and Piteå and the Baltic at Bjuröklubb. The others are collages from the top of Galtispuoda early on and then nearer to midnight with the showers. The actual midnight sun will be tomorrow as that happened at 00:40 local time.
Best on black.
