Friday: Chicory Flowers
It was chilly all morning, overcast and windy - I had my winter fleece on whilst I pottered in the garden, by this afternoon temperature is 23°C, the wind had dropped and it was very warm.
Potted on:
Red Cabbage, Durham Early green cabbage, chives, mixed lettuce, leeks “Elefant” - all these plants are tiny so there may be casualties :-((
Sowed seeds in cells:
Spinach perpetual, Leek “Blue de Solaise”, Rocket salad, chives, Lambs lettuce, round lettuce, mixed lettuce - they’ll stay in my big plastic storage box outdoors.
Also sowed Carrots “Bangor” in a very large pot - I’d seen this variety on “Garddio a Mwy” (Gardening and More) last year, I’ve had no luck growing carrots so thought this might work, the pot has a large sieve to protect the seeds from all the wildlife and weather!
After all the gardening I sat outside for a while, there was an awful lot of bird chattering going on - a group of house martins overhead feeding on insects, the baby blackbird which is still nagging it’s Dad for food, bluetits, dunnock and doves joining in with the chatter :-))
I’ve been watching the chicory flowers in today’s Blip slowly opening over the last few days, they’re one of my favourite flowers and look like blue dandelions - dandelions and chicory are actually related.
Friday Night … Weekend is here Again … have fun everyone XXXX XXX XX
Nos da pawb / goodnight all xx
