Bridge 123g +
Like the Mill Hotel footbridge I blipped a few weeks ago this bridge has no number although it has been in existence since the canal was built in the 1790s. This is the Bridge of Sighs which is a Grade II listed building and was used by prisoners crossing from the old Northgate Gaol to receive the last rites in the Chapel of Little St. John (they would have been walking from left to right). Clearly this bridge can no longer be used as it is now completely blocked on the left. I took this photo from Northgate Street bridge, bridge 123g.
